Let’s face it, with the declining era of branding and customer loyalty, innovation is nothing less than a survival strategy as already stated Tim Brown. Survival is no longer an option. We must adapt to remain viable. Fortunately, design thinking provides the needed framework to remain relevant in our competitive market place. It unleashes our creativity and generates breakthrough ideas to resolve endearing social and business conundrum.

Design thinking is the art of combining what is desirable (what makes sense to people and for people) to what is technologically feasible(what is functionally possible within the foreseeable future) and financially viable(what is likely to become part of a sustainable business model) to paraphrase Tim Brown. It is an integrative approach to business and society; based on an interchangeable set of principles, that taps into our natural and intuitive capabilities. It is a human-centered approach to business and society. Design thinkers learn to think outside of the box to create meaningful products, processes and services. Furthermore, design thinking is an experimental process that encourages a collective ownership of ideas/project and enables us to take the road least traveled. Most importantly, when we use the framework of design thinking, constraints are no longer seen as problems, but opportunities.

By embracing design thinking, business leaders and entrepreneurs create an environment where their employees relies on optimism, taps in their intuitive and natural abilities (reward curiosity), and finally feel a certain level of certainty that fully maximizes on their skills and talents. Most importantly, design thinking helps companies to become more agile, more adaptable and more innovative.
